A very large majority of the population are branded with this form of body art, it has become exceedingly popular over the years however many don’t take the time to look into the adverse effects tattoos can have. Many may find that they have no after effects however others may not be so lucky. Tattoos can cause an allergic reaction, this is something you should be fully aware of when contemplating getting a tattoo especially if you haven’t had any previously. Certain dyes are known to trigger an allergic reaction much more than others, the main culprits are the green, red, yellow and blue dyes, a reaction may even occur years later, causing a tender, itchy area. It is possible for the tattooed area to become infected if not taken care of properly, resulting in redness, swelling, tenderness and even a drainage (pus). It is not at all uncommon for bumps to arise around the tattooed area, these are called granulomas. Tattoos can also lead to keloids, you will find these areas are raised, this is due to an overgrowth of the built up scar tissue.
