Styes… These are minor bacterial infections in which effect either the eyelid or the eye, they are also known as a ‘hordeolum’. Styes occur as the glands surrounding the eyelid become clogged resulting in swelling leading to a sore much like a boil. Blockage in the follicle of an eyelash can even bring them on. The ‘sore’ styes carry with them can cause eye pain however dependent on the infection and the cause you may not experience much. The larger the infection the more serious this can become although it is not all that common the stye can expand and develop deeper into the eyelid, gradually growing until the attention of your doctor is needed. Most styes will fade out in time however some people may find they reoccur often, as others may be more susceptible.
