The Heerstraße in Bonn’s hip Nordstadt quarter, about a 5 minute walk from Beethoven’s House, has been transformed into the ‘Cherry Blossom Avenue’. In the 1980’s the city planted ornamental Japanese cherry blossom trees on both sides of the narrow street, every year, depending on weather but usually around mid April the branches of the Cherry Blossom burst into millions of delicate pink flowers. They extend over the street, at some points into a full canopy and make it into a truly magical place. Depending on weather the burst will hold about 2/3 weeks. At one point the flower petals start to fall like a gentle pink spring snow.
