Here are a few interesting facts about the world of architecture and construction. I am sure you are going to be more than surprised! Years ago we didn’t have the resources we do now to construct such marvelous buildings, however that did not stop people from using the materials available around them. In 1610 a bridge was built in Peru- Lima, it was made up of mortar that was simply a mixture of water and around 10,000 egg whites, much to my astonishment the bridge is still standing today and so aptly goes by the name of ‘the bridge of eggs’. The pyramids have long been a mystery to us folk, the base of the great pyramid is said to be large enough to cover 10 football fields! It has been said that it must have taken around 400,000 men to construct the pyramid taking around 20 years to complete. Here’s a little bit of trivia for you… Did you know that the empire state building is made up of 10 million bricks, crazy to think right? Finally… Thinking about the world on a whole and the amount of buildings taking up the surface of the earth you would imagine that the majority would be visible from space, however this is not the case… The only man made structure visible from space is the great wall of china.
